CIrculo Infantil

Círculo Infantil

why is important to oberserve? Observation of classes are designed to help you have a more productive learning experience, also helps future teachers to know how a class is developed, theory is not all, so my team and I went to observe a class at "Círculo Infantil" a kinder garden where the constructivism is applied. The following video is the presentation of the observation we did at that school.

Before of going to observe the class, a list of expectations must be done, the reason is that before of going into a classroom as an observer,  an idea of what is expected to see has to be clear, is needed to study the method that the school uses, so the observer can contrast his/her expectations with how was the method applied.
Been in Circulo Infantil has been a wonderful experience, helps you to realize how important is to children been independent since early ages, in the English class was amazing how children were anxious to meet us, to present themselves. Opening their doors inviting strangers to meet them.
From my personal perspective, it was pretty different from I was expecting. Since I left kinder garden I did not see a kinder classroom again, until this observation, even I knew that children might sit in a circle as a whole group, the last second before of entering the classroom I expected them sitting in armchairs in line, but no, children were in sit in a circle, comprehending that interaction is one of the principles of this method.
Improving student's independence helps them to face the world without being intimidated, since we entered the class, and presented us, they wanted to present themselves without shyness and problem, that was impressive to me because they knew what words to use and how to use them to present themselves correctly, the collaboration was magnificent, they were not competing with themselves they were playing, enjoying the class,  the way of how all they were working was mechanical. The class was so fast that I dit not realize about the time until the teacher said, "well, say goodbye".
What I did not like about the class is that the teacher instructed the class in Spanish, challenging students to understand instructions in the second language will help them to improve in their second language more than just with the exercise. From what I saw students are capable of understanding instruction in English, with the correct approach, tons of patience and a bunch of stimuli.
The 30 minutes is a nice time to have a class with children, but they work so well that sometimes teachers lose the time.
In the interview, the teacher explained us, in how they are not in charge of the children's evaluation, they just help to the educator in charge to grade. She explains that in this method children are independent if they do not want to work, they just go to a corner taking a sit until the classes finish. The problem that she finds with the method is when children leave the program, they have problems of adapting to the traditional system teaching.
Constructivism is an approach that forms more independent students at the moment of treating them as individuals, taking them into account, asking them how they want to work, in order to get a productive environment for the learning.
Observing my first class was a particular experience, no only to know how children work in class, also to know how teachers experience theses classes, and how they figure themselves trying to give their best for children that are in their charge, seen as friends, not children.

Formative and summative assessment

Formative and Summative Assessment Formative and summative assessment are commonly contrasted, the expert Paul Black put it as a simple example "when the cook tastes the soup it is formative, "when the customer tastes the soup it is summative". Informative assessment teachers and students are provided with feedback during the instruction so they can adjust the ongoing teaching and learning to improve students' achievements. In the meantime, summative assessment is used to evaluate students learning, skill acquisition and academic achievements. In the following video, there will be a short explanation of each concept, ending with a contrast, in order to get a complete understanding of the formative and summative assessment a concept map will be developed explaining both concepts. The formative and summative assessment helps to assess students, separated have their advantages and disadvantages, as we already discuss that a continued assessment works p
